Spiritual Formation is the way we create space to foster intimacy with God and grow in Christ-like conduct and character. This always happens in the context of a loving Christian community, who has committed to journey with each other in spiritual friendship and covenant relationship. As a church we are always looking for ways to pursue the Good Life of the Kingdom. This requires re-orienting our hearts through the inspiration of the early church’s rhythm: an emphasis on the Spiritual Disciplines, Community, and the Table. We add to these commitment to self-reflection, through which the Spirit can effect actual growth. These are incorporated into a rhythm that includes Sabbath rest. Both individually and corporately, a God-centered and Kingdom-focused rhythm can yield tremendous personal and spiritual growth. As part of the River City family, we invite you to enter into this holy rhythm with us.

We believe that the Christian calendar provides an opportunity for us to re-orient our hearts to the move of the Spirit rather than the secular scripts that surround us. Through the Christian calendar we are invited again into the Gospel Story, where we are re-formed into the people of God and once again sent to the world. The calendar continually offers us new beginning after new beginning as we re-encounter Christ again and again. As we draw into Christ, we draw into each other and truly learn to Live in Love.  As a church, RCC observes Advent, Lent, Holy Week, and other Christian Holy Days. Added to this is a Sabbath element, syncing up specific months with rest. We believe that it is only after rest that the creative and redemptive work of the Spirit can be done in us and through us purposefully and authentically.
