CityKids

Welcome to CityKids, the Children’s ministry here at River City Church! CityKids ministers to children from birth through 5th grade on Sunday mornings while parents participate in the worship service located in the sanctuary. We provide a space for your child to feel welcome, safe, and loved while spiritually forming them with sound Biblical instruction, fun games, object lessons, worship songs, and community-building play. A Sunday morning in CityKids is more than just child care; it is a place to introduce your children to God, encourage their growth, and equip them for their place in the body of Christ. We look forward to loving your children, watching them play and grow, and getting to see their unique beauty flourish while they are with us!

Age Group Breakdowns

Ages birth - walking well (usually between 18 and 23 months). In this room, your child will be introduced to the truth of God by having a blessing prayed over them, worship music playing and sometimes stories read. We do keep some cheerios and veggie straws on hand, but you are welcome to bring your own snack for your child in this room. We will give bottles as needed. We focus on providing a safe, warm, loving environment in this room.

Ages 2 and 3 (children who are not quite 2 but walking really well may also be in this classroom). The children in this room are encouraged each week with a simple truth for the week, a Bible story, worship, a game and an application (usually a craft or object lesson to help them grasp the truth). They are provided a snack each week of veggie straws and water.

Ages 4 through Kindergarten. Children in this room are taught a lesson every week with a main truth, a Bible story, some songs, a game, and some sort of craft or object lesson. They are encouraged to pray, play, and learn. We encourage them to think about how the truth for the day applies to their lives. They are also served a snack of veggie straws and water.

1st through 5th grade. Here, kids gather together for games and a large group lesson time where they will be introduced to the truth for the week. They will often be split into smaller groups for application type things like deeper Bible study, fun object lessons, and sometimes crafts. The children in this area are encouraged to pray for each other and listen to God, and we make time for this regularly. They enjoy videos and worship songs in this area as well. We do not serve a snack for this age group.
